Insurance Claim Denials

In Michigan, and especially in the Detroit area, insurance companies often refuse to pay out on claims by the people they insure. After your car is stolen, a house fire or other damage to your property, you may be entitled to receive compensation under your insurance contract. If your claim has been denied by your insurance company, contact an experienced consumer rights attorney to get you the results you deserve.

Attorney Mark H. Magidson has more than 30 years of legal experience. He passionately defends the rights of people who have been harmed by fraud and dishonorable business practices.

Michigan's Lemon Law - Is Your Car a Lemon?

If your vehicle has required several repairs in a short period of time during your period of warranty, you may have a remedy. In appropriate cases, Michigan's Lemon Law gives consumers the right to receive a replacement vehicle or a return of the vehicle's cost. The consumer has the right to choose whether they want the replacement vehicle or the refund.

To recover from the dealership, you must be able to establish that you have had a certain number of repairs in a limited duration of time. You must also have provided written notice to the dealership and provided them with an opportunity to make necessary repairs. Contact a Michigan consumer rights attorney to learn more.

Which Vehicles are Covered?

According to the website for the Michigan Attorney General,

The Lemon Law applies to passenger cars, sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and vans that are purchased or leased in Michigan or purchased or leased by a Michigan resident (regardless of whether the vehicle was purchased or leased in Michigan) and covered by a manufacturer's express warranty at the time of purchase or lease. The Lemon Law does not apply to motor homes, buses, trucks other than pickups and vans, motorcycles, or off-road vehicles.
